Dr. Udo Thelen

has been Secretary General of the Franco-German University since April 2024.

In the years before taking up his position at the DFH, he worked as Managing Director and most recently as Professor of Education Management at universities and education companies of the Stuttgart-based Klett Group. He previously held management positions with a focus on continuing education, internationalization and university management at the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Hamburg as well as DAAD Head of Section for International University Marketing and Managing Director of GATE Germany.

Udo Thelen works as a consultant and expert for foundations and political advisory bodies. He also teaches science management at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. He holds a doctorate in linguistics (University of Trier) and is a certified management coach.
